Description of Significance THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF TONKAWA IS ONE OF THE FEW EXTANT VERNACULAR SIDE-STEEPLE CHURCHES BUILT IN NORTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA. CONSTRUCTED IN 1905 BY A LOCAL CARPENTER, THIS SINGLE STORY BUILDING HAS GOTHIC REVIVAL DETAILS AND IS BUILT IN A CRUCIFORM PLAN. THE BUILDING IS ACCENTED BY STAINED GLASS WINDOWS AND ITS SIDE STEEPLE. LISTED IN THE NATIONAL REGISTER, 9/22/1994.
